Monica enlists the assistance of Rick Ross and Lil Kim on 'Anything (To Find You)', the first single from her 7th upcoming album New Life (due out in October). The Missy Elliott-produced track samples the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya?” while Rick Ross and Lil Kim spit rhymes over the classic beat.
It's a cool track, but I'm surprised she went the hip-hop route when she made a big comeback with her last album releasing soulful R&B singles like 'Everything To Me' and 'Love All Over Me'. Both of those tracks were big hits on the R&B charts.
Monica, who hit the studio with her cousin and super producer Polow Da Don, recently talked about what her album will sound like. “You get to hear some different flavors, but it’s definitely R&B,” said Monica, “I think when you’re in a happy place, you’re able to do your job a lot easier.” Listen to Monica's new single below.
