News Fix - Justin Timberlake Becomes Creative Director of MySpace And Part Owner

Want a new Justin Timberlake album? Yea me too, but apparently that isn't happening anytime soon. In between filming movies Justin will take on the role of Creative Director and Co-Owner for MySpace in a move spawned by MySpace being purchased by Specific Media.

“There’s a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. MySpace has the potential to be that place,” Timberlake explained. “Art is inspired by people and vice versa, so there’s a natural social component to entertainment. I’m excited to help revitalize MySpace by using its social media platform to bring artists and fans together in one community.”

The idea is to relaunch MySpace as a top online music destination. Only one problem: News Corp. which is MySpace's former owner tried to relaunch it as a musical destination last year and failed miserably and membership continued to plummet. News Corp. ended up selling MySpace to Specific Media for $35 million, a far cry from the $580 million dollars News Corp. paid for it in 2005. But if Justin can help turn the company around and it becomes a top online music destination, then Justin may have a great and free way to promote his next album....whenever that is.
