News Fix - Missy Elliott: Calm Down Yall, I'm Not That Sick

Earlier this week Missy Elliott had the web and blogsphere concerned when she revealed that she was battling Graves Disease (I have no idea what it is, Google much?). I felt a little bad about not covering the news here, but I don't do well with shelling out sympathy.

So anyways Missy must be getting a little irritated with all the 'OMG, Missy is sick, I hope she don't die' chatter floating around, and went to great lengths to explain how and why she is A-OK (after freaking half of the black community out). “I was diagnosed with [it] about three years ago but it really hasn’t slowed me down at all,” the 39-year-old rapper said in a statement. (Damn, 39 tho?)

“I rocked my performance on VH1 Hip Hop Honors’ tribute to Timbaland last year. I’ve written and produced a bunch of Grammy-nominated, #1 hits for artists like Keyshia Cole, Monica and Jasmine Sullivan. I toured the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. And on top of all that, I’m working on my new album. I feel great,” she added.

The former Queen of Hip-Hop also revealed that she doesn't even need to take medication for her condition now explaining she is “completely managing the condition through diet and exercise.” So basically everyone freaked out this week thinking Missy was 'battling' Graves Disease and it turns out its not really effecting her at all. And that my dear readers is why I DID NOT cover the story until now. Publicity stunts are a no-go round these parts.
