News Fix: Lil Wayne's 'The Carter IV' Finally Gets Release Date

Lil Wayne's highly anticipated follow-up to 2008's Tha Carter III is slated for release on May 16th. Tha Carter III was the album that took Wayne from ghetto-superstar to international-superstar thanks to the albums lead single 'Lollipop' that became his biggest hit ever selling millions worldwide. His new album Tha Carter IV is a more formal follow-up to Tha Carter III than his last two albums. 2010's Rebirth album was an experiment of sorts seeing Wayne venture more into rock. That proved to be a fail as critics slammed the effort and it failed to reach platinum sales. In 2010 a rush album was released titled I Am Not A Human Being that dropped while Wayne was incarcerated. Many felt the album was rushed out just so he'd have material out while in jail. Critical reception for this album was slightly better than Rebirth's and so were sales.

But Tha Carter IV looks to be a return to form for Wayne as its lead single '6 Foot, 7 Foot' is a huge hit already. Mark your calendars, May 16th, Lil Wayne returns.
